    Herb Details

    Cordoncillo, also referred to as Matico in Ecuador, is an alkaline herb that is native to South and Central America as well as the Caribbean. Our Cordoncillo comes directly from the Amazon region of Ecuador where it has been traditionally used to alleviate respiratory issues such as asthma, as well as digestive inflammation such as gastric ulcers.

    In many countries, Cordoncillo is also used to address womb cleansing and yeast infections. Topically, it is also used to relieve body aches, including headaches, as it contains anesthetic properties.

    How to prepare teas

    For every 2 cups of water, use 1 teaspoon of Cordoncillo.

    Where is this herb sourced?

    Our Cordoncillo is sourced specifically from the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest from the Kichwa indigenous community we work directly with.

    Please note because our herbs are wild-crafted they may contain nature's residue which is perfectly safe and harmless.

    How is it used?

    In the Amazon, Cordoncillo is typically used topically in areas of the body where one experiences aches, pains, and wound infections. It is also most commonly used as a tea or as a tonic beverage.


    How do I store my herbs?

    Oxygen will degrade herbs over time, so storing your herbs in a glass jar or food-safe bag kept in a cool dark area is best.

    Can I reuse herbs?

    Of course! Just allow them to airdry before storing it.
